Fall Business Refresh
September is the perfect time for a little business reset.
Summer is winding down, the holiday season is getting closer, and before things get busy, it’s worth taking a step back and making sure your business is in good shape.
Not a complete overhaul. Just a few things you can tackle now that will make the next few months feel a whole lot easier.
Get your books in order
Tax season might feel far away, but it will be here before you know it.
With roughly six months until the April tax deadline, now is a great time to make sure your bookkeeping is up to date and your business expenses are organized.
If you haven't already, consider hiring a CPA or tax professional now rather than waiting until tax season. Having someone who understands your business can help you prepare, identify what records you need to keep, and avoid scrambling when deadlines arrive.
Of course, tax requirements vary by business and location, so check with your tax professional about what applies to you.
Take a look at your inventory
When was the last time you really looked at what you have on hand?
- Pull your inventory reports and identify:
- Your bestsellers
- Products that aren't moving
- Items you're running low on and reorder
- Inventory that may need to be discounted or bundled
Knowing what is actually selling will help you make smarter purchasing decisions going into the holiday season.
Check your pricing
Your costs change and your pricing should be reviewed regularly.
Take a look at your current pricing and make sure it still accounts for your materials, labor, overhead, transaction fees, and profit.
If you've added new chains or products this year, make sure they're priced intentionally rather than simply following an old formula.
A little fall refresh from Tesserae 🤎
If your inventory could use a refresh, we've pulled together some of our favorite pieces to help you head into the season with a fresh lineup.
Think everyday chains, new textures, versatile charms, and pieces your customers can mix, match, and personalize.
Your fall to-do list might not be the most glamorous part of running a jewelry business—but getting organized now can make a huge difference when the busy season arrives.
So grab your coffee, pull up those numbers, and give your business a little check-in.
